Supporting churches in mission
In October 2014, youth worker Emily Finch bought a bus. She had a vision of supporting Churches in their work with young people and communities. Together with some like-minded individuals, the charity was created and in March 2015, The Bus Stop got on the road!
The Bus Stop has a particular passion to work in areas where Church youth work is currently limited or non-existent. We always work alongside the local Church so that the community build a relationship with local Church members, rather than ‘outsiders’.
The Bus has been fully transformed into a perfect space to do work with your local community. Downstairs we have lots of comfy seating, an extendable table perfect for boardgames or craft and a console area. Upstairs, we have a cafe area, more seating, with an open space perfect for group games, and a television on the back wall. The bus is also kitted out with a surround sound system.
While on placement on her youth work degree, Emily worked alongside rural churches who were struggling to know where to start with youth and community outreach. This was often due to the lack of resources and manpower which churches in smaller or more deprived areas face.
The Bus Stop aims to provide a tool for local churches, helping them to engage with young people and communities.
